How to catch the problem with your well or pump before you’re with out water. Nothing is worse than having no water especially when you could have had caught it early. Not all the time can things be caught before this point, however there are some instances where the problem can be caught before it becomes a larger issue.
Water quality changes like sight, taste, touch, or smell are some of the things that need to be watched by the homeowner in order for the well and pump to work correctly. People who are new to having a well or get a new well drilled should document monthly any changes in their water for up to 2 years. Many wells will seasonally produce water with minor changes due to normal variations in atmospheric pressure, static, or pumping levels. So, with documenting your well water, you will already know this and won’t be alarmed.
If there are any changes that are alerting like the taste of the water, the color of the water, pressure of the water, or you hear a different noise from the pump then you need to call us here at Haynes Well to come out for a service call and fix the issue. Those issues may seem small to you and your family at the time but its a big inconvenience when the water goes out completely then it could be a couple of days before its fixed.
If you suspect any issues with the taste of your water ,we are more than happy to do a water quality test, if needed we can install a nice water softener system which not only helps with the taste of water but also with skin issues, laundry, build up on the toilet, or build up on your shower.
If you notice a change in color or smell of your well water, build up of iron, or dirt then there could be issues with your pump or you have hard water. Hard water can be fixed with a water softener. Don’t waste money on buying water to drink and use when we can install a great water softener system and go back to using the water out of your well.
The sound of the pump running or water softener should be pretty consistent so if there are any changes that you notice, you will need a service call.
Basically just pay attention to your water. If you notice any changes that aren’t the normal changes in your water then give us a call here at Haynes Well & Pump Service 540-382-8251.
